Chelsea receive fresh update on Mason Mounts ankle injury

Mount could feature against Liverpool

Chelsea have received a positive update on midfielder Mason Mount following the ankle injury sustained during the Champions League clash against Valencia.

The England international picked up the damage following a strong tackle from Francis Coquelin in midweek and it was initially indicated that he may have sustained a long-term setback.

However, according to The Sun, that does not appear the case with scans showing that the 20-year-old has not damaged any ligaments through the challenge from the former Arsenal man.

It is added that the Blues graduate remains a touch and go for the forthcoming Premier League clash against Liverpool and a late fitness test may determine his involvement.

Mount has been a revelation for the Blues since making his debut at the start of the campaign and he has already contributed three goals in the Premier League, where he has featured in the number 10 role.

Aside from Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham have been handed with the opportunity to impress under Lampard and the duo have likewise delivered with standout performances.

Zorc denies United talks for Sancho

Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc has clarified that Manchester United were nowhere close to signing Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils were linked with a potential club-record move for the England international last summer with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aiming to strengthen the squad with younger players with pedigree.

However, no agreement was reached between the clubs for the highly-rated winger and Zorc has now confirmed that his team refused to hold a meeting with the Red Devils for Sancho.

“Not close at all. We didn’t talk to them. They were asking us for a meeting. Sancho is not for sale,” he was quoted as saying by Viasport.

Sancho has been a revelation for Dortmund over the past 18 months and he has started the current campaign in fine form with two goals and four assists from just four league appearances.

He has also excelled with the England national side and recently bagged his first two goals for the Three Lions during the 5-3 triumph over Kosovo in a Euro 2020 qualifier.

Wilson to Manchester United?

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly keen on recruiting the services of Callum Wilson from Bournemouth this winter.

The 27-year-old has become a vital figure for the Cherries after overcoming his regular injury concerns and he has made 26 goalscoring contributions since the start of the previous season.

According to The Sun, Solskjaer is keen to continue with the trend of pursuing young and hungry British players and Wilson has emerged as a potential target for the winter transfer window.

United currently have Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial as the only senior striking options following the departure of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan – the latter on a season-long loan.

Martial has been sidelined for the past few weeks with a thigh problem and this has practically left Solskjaer with just Marcus Rashford to depend upon for the centre-forward duties.

United graduate Mason Greenwood has been regularly talked up for a starting role but so far, Solskjaer has resisted the temptation of utilising the teenager from the beginning.

Arsenal to reject permanent transfer offer for Nketiah

Championship leaders Leeds United are unlikely to pursue a permanent deal for Eddie Nketiah as Arsenal hold no desire to part ways with their graduate.

The England Under-21 international was hugely impressive during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States but he was still loaned out to the Peacocks amid his insistence to play regular first-team football.

Eddie has since shined for Marcelo Bielsa‘s side with four goals from six appearances in all competitions and this has included a couple of late league strikes against Brentford and Barnsley.

According to The Athletic, the Championship outfit have been impressed with the showing of their loanee and they could seek to pursue him on a permanent basis at the turn of the year.

However, their chances of sealing his services remain non-existent with Unai Emery‘s side holding no interest whatsoever in sanctioning the sale of the young marksman.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are presently the first-choice striking options at Arsenal but the latter is currently sidelined with an ankle problem until October.

Manchester United to make fresh raid on Leicester City?

Maddison wanted by United?

Manchester United are reportedly planning to make a raid for James Maddison from Leicester City after having previously pursued Harry Maguire from the east Midlands outfit.

The Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has favoured the addition of young and hungry players to his squad and the recent transfer window saw the recruitment of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Maguire.

Each of those players have made an instant impact with the Mancunian giants and according to The Times, Maddison has now been earmarked as the next transfer target for Solskjaer.

It is added that the Red Devils could bid in upwards of £60m for the former Norwich City graduate, though it is unclear whether the Foxes will consider a mid-season sale of their playmaker.

Maddison has broken into Gareth Southgate‘s England squad on a couple of occasions but he has yet to earn an international cap with the Three Lions to date. The 22-year-old has contributed a couple of assists for the Foxes this term.

Manchester United were reportedly keeping track of Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi when he was representing Kosovo on international duty this month.

The 25-year-old has made a splendid season to his Fenerbahce career with three goals from two appearances and he has also impressed for the national team with goals against England and the Czech Republic during the recent Euro 2020 qualifiers.

According to Aksam, talent-spotters from the Red Devils had monitored the performances of Muriqi, who possesses a genuine aerial threat with his height and physique.

Muriqi was recruited by Fenerbahce from Caykur Rizespor this summer for just £3.1m after an impressive 2018/19 season where he contributed 17 goals across all competitions.

United have been tipped to pursue a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who parted ways with the club before the summer transfer deadline and it remains to be seen whether they are prepared to make a move for Muriqi.

Aside from United, Tottenham Hotspur have also been deemed to be tracking the progress of the marksman with manager Mauricio Pochettino keen on pursuing a specialist back-up striker to Harry Kane.
