England international Ross Barkley has said that Mason Mount has similar traits to Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard from his playing days with the club.
The 20-year-old has made his breakthrough with the Blues first-team in fine fashion this term and he has already contributed a couple of goals in the Premier League.
This has earned him with a call-up to the England national side and Barkey has hailed his compatriot by comparing his style of play to club legend and current boss Lampard.
“The way he arrives in the box and gets shots away early, it is similar to Lamps. He has a really good technique with how he finishes as well. He is a brilliant player,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
Both Barkley and Mount could be competing for one place in the starting lineup with the Three Lions and it remains to be seen whether the latter is handed with his debut during the forthcoming internationals.
Aside from Mount, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrone Mings are the other potential candidates, who could make their maiden bow with the Three Lions during the forthcoming European qualifiers.
