United still in talks for Maguire

Manchester United are reportedly continuing their negotiations to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City despite the Foxes being reluctant to reduce their £80m price tag for the defender.

The England international has been identified as the prime target to strengthen the central defensive department at United but so far, the club have failed to reach an agreement in terms of the transfer fee.

According to The Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are unwilling to offer more than £70m for the centre-back but they remain hopeful of convincing the Foxes into a sale.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has recently indicated that the club find themselves under no pressure to sell the 26-year-old, though their hand may be forced, if the defender pushes for a departure.

Aside from Maguire, the Red Devils have been fancied to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting and reports have indicated that they are close to agreeing a deal worth £64m for the Portugal international.

Japan international and current Borussia Dortmund midfielder Shinji Kagawa looks set to swap Germany for Spain, as reports emerged yesterday that Celta Vigo have agreed a fee to sign the former Man Utd player. Kagawa, who is considered a club legend at Dortmund, is seeking a final European transfer deal before returning to his homeland in 2021.

The 30-year-old has slipped down the pecking order at the Bundesliga side and has been informed he has no future with the side. Kagawa is now ready to move elsewhere in a deal worth approximately 5 million euros.

Speaking in November last year, Kagawa told reporters: “I am not afraid of going to a new country and I have already done Germany and England, now I am thinking about Spain.

“Spain would be the most important challenge in my career, I cannot retire without going there.”

It appears that Turkish duo Galatasaray and Besiktas have missed out on the transfer for Shinji Kagawa after the player opted to make the move to La Liga instead.

Bayern Munich in shock move for Morgan Gibbs-White

Gibbs-White on German club’s radar

Bayern Munich have emerged as shock candidates to sign Wolves’ impressive 19-year-old midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White before the summer transfer window slams shut. It is understood that the Bavarian side are ready to pay up to £24 million to sign the youngster, and are confident the player will opt to make a move to the Bundesliga giants.

Bayern have regularly deployed their scouts to monitor young English talent, as noted when the club made their bid for Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi last season.

This time however, Bayern are confident they can capture another impressive young English talent in a transfer for Gibbs-White.

The Stafford-born youngster came through the ranks at Wolves, having made his debut in 2017, and has since gone on to represent England’s youth side at every level.

Wolves are hoping that they can persuade Gibbs-White to stay put, and are preparing the finishing touches to a new contract offer for the English starlet, however Bayern are still confident that they will be able to capture the player who took part in 26 Premier League games last season.

Leicester City enter race to sign Lewis Dunk

Dunk set for Premier League transfer?
Football Transfer Centre

Leicester City have approached Brighton and Hove Albion regarding a transfer move for impressive centre back Lewis Dunk. The player, who has been linked with a move to the Foxes as a potential replacement for Man Utd bound Harry Maguire, has 1 cap for England and is hopeful a transfer elsewhere will boost his own international prospects.

With Harry Maguire seemingly headed to Man Utd away from Leicester, Foxes’ manager Brendan Rodgers is seeking a move for Dunk as a replacement for the England centre back.

Dunk has played over 240 times for Brighton since coming through the ranks in 2010 and is considered one of the club’s best players. The 27-year-old has remained fiercely loyal to his current team but some senior players at the club admit that the player is now likely to depart.

Dunk is valued by his team in the region of £40 million.

Veteran striker Glenn Murray told reporters that he hopes Dunk will decide to stay with the team:  “As far as any of our better players are concerned, they are the ones you want to keep. But football is a business as well as a sport and I think everyone has got their price.

“As far as the players are concerned, we all want Lewis to stay and lead us into another Premier League campaign.”

Former Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck is struggling to find a new club owing to his current £100,000-a-week wage demands, a report from The Sun claims.

The England international, who spent the past five seasons with the Gunners, is available on a free transfer this summer after the north London giants decided against renewing his contract.

West Ham United, Everton and Newcastle United have all been credited with an interest in signing him, but so far, there has been no progress in terms of a deal with any of those sides.

According to The Sun, Welbeck continues to attract interest from the Premier League but his £100,000 a week demands in addition to a £5m signing-on fee has put off potential suitors from making an approach.

The same publication claims that Serie A side Lazio also hold an interest in the former Manchester United graduate, although they are likewise in disagreement over the salary demands of the forward.

Welbeck missed the vast part of the previous campaign with an ankle damage and that played a part in his release from the Gunners, given he has previously been sidelined with a couple of season-ending knee injuries.

Foxes want a higher fee upfront from United for Maguire

Leicester City have reportedly told Manchester United that they are unlikely to sanction the sale of Harry Maguire unless they receive a higher transfer fee upfront.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen on improving the club’s defence ahead of the new season.

According to The Mail, the Red Devils have made an opening bid of £72m with additional bonuses which would be paid, should the club qualify for the Champions League.

However, the Foxes have rebuffed the package and want a bigger sum upfront, given they are not convinced that the Red Devils will make a swift return to Europe’s elite competition.

Maguire, who has four years remaining on his Foxes contract, has been regularly involved with the east Midlands side in their preparations for the new Premier League campaign.

Manchester City have recently failed with a similar offer to United’s for the England international but they have decided against continuing their pursuit of the centre-back.

Dybala: no longer heading to England

Tottenham and Man Utd target Paulo Dybala has told Juventus that he wants to stay at the club and fight for his future. The Argentina international had been linked with a move to England this summer, having seen his first-team opportunities at the club slip away last campaign.

Spurs were reportedly in pole position to sign the player but Mauricio Pochettino will be left very disappointed with the latest news that Dybala intends to stay in Turin.

It is understood that the striker was offered as a part of a potential deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from Juventus, but that deal appears to be dead in the water. Dybala is valued at around £75 million by Juve, a transfer fee that Tottenham are ready to pay outright for the player. Yet it is understood that Dybala has no interest in a move to White Hart Lane.

Newly appointed manager Maurizio Sarri has held talks with Dybala regarding the striker’s future at the club, and has indicated that the player can fight for a spot in the first team next year.

Chelsea teenager wants number 10 shirt?

Hudson-Odoi wants number 10 shirt

Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly requested the number 10 jersey as part of the requirements to pen a new contract with the club.

The England international has been in a contract standoff with the Blues over the past 12 months, but reports have recently emerged that he is on the cusp of penning a new long-term deal.

Amidst this, the representatives of Hudson-Odoi have urged the Blues to hand him with the vacant number 10 shirt and Metro suggests that the club may oblige to the request to keep the winger happy.

Brazil international Willian recently indicated that he has been offered the jersey formerly worn by Eden Hazard, but manager Frank Lampard has refuted those claims by stating that no conclusion has been made over the same.

Meanwhile, Hudson-Odoi is currently recovering after an operation for a ruptured Achilles tendon and he is unlikely to return to first-team action until after the first international break of the campaign.
