Boateng to Arsenal this month?

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to make an attempt to sign Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng as they seek to cover up the injury absence of Calum Chambers.

The England international sustained a season-ending knee injury last month but that has not necessarily seen the club spend on a suitable replacement in recent weeks.

However, according to The Star, the Gunners are looking at the prospect of adding another centre-back to their ranks and they are prepared to make an approach to sign Boateng from Bayern.

The German’s current deal with Bayern is due to expire at the end of next season and reports indicate that the Bundesliga champions may entertain a temporary exit for the World Cup winner with the option to buy in the summer.

Boateng has struggled to cement a regular spot in the Bayern lineup this term but he has still been able to make 14 appearances in the Bundesliga an Champions League combined.

Arsenal face Chelsea in tomorrow’s Premier League meeting on the road.

Calum Chambers news

Chambers out injured for the season

Arsenal are reported to have suffered a major injury blow with defender Calum Chambers suffering a knee ligament damage in the recent Premier League clash against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

The England international picked up the problem during the early stages of the London derby and he was shortly substituted with Shkodran Mustafi taking his central defensive spot.

According to The Mail, the north London side fear that the defender has ruptured his knee ligaments and that could keep him out of action for the rest of the ongoing campaign.

The same publication states that could trigger the need for another centre-back in the New Year and the club are prepared to back manager Mikel Arteta with funds for the new recruit.

Arsenal are currently exploring the prospect of recalling William Saliba from his loan deal at Saint-Etienne but that would be largely dependent on the French club, due to the absence of a recall clause.

Volland set for Premier League move?

Kevin Volland has emerged as the primary transfer target for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta this January, with the German international forward amongst the club’s monitored players. Volland, who is currently playing for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, has scored close to 40 goals in over 100 games for his side.

Volland remains one of Germany’s top striking talents and is earmarked as a possible replacement for one of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette should depart the club elsewhere.

The left-footed striker is available for a fee of around 50 million euros and whilst Aubameyang is being monitored by Real Madrid, Lacazette is a surprise target for Barcelona who are seeking a long term successor for Luis Suarez.

Volland has previously hinted that he would like to make a transfer to England or Italy, but it is understood by his agent and advisors that he would prefer to transfer to the Premier League as his style of football would not be suited to Italian football. Volland has two years left on his existing contract.

Arsenal to hold talks with Mauricio Pochettino?

Pochettino on Arsenal radar?
Football Transfer Centre

Arsenal are reportedly planning to hold talks with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino regarding the managerial vacancy at the club.

The north London giants parted ways with Unai Emery towards the end of November and they have since appointed Freddie Ljungberg as the interim manager.

According to Express, the Gunners are keen to fast track their bid to sign a new head coach and they are expected to hold talks with Pochettino, who remains one of their targets.

Pochettino returned to Argentina shortly after his dismissal at Tottenham last month but he is expected to fly back to England in the coming days with a view to sorting out his future.

Aside from the Argentine, the Gunners are also interested in the likes of Mikel Arteta, Patrick Vieira and Paulo Sousa and they are expected to hold talks with each of them in the near future.

Arsenal recently ended a nine-match winless run with a 3-2 comeback win over West Ham United in the Premier League. The victory has propelled them to the top half of the standings and within seven points off the top four.

Worrall wanted by Arsenal in January
Football Transfer Centre

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a January move to secure the signature of defender Joe Worrall from Championship side Nottingham Forest.

The 22-year-old, who spent the previous campaign on loan with Rangers in the Scottish top-flight, has been ever-present for Forest in the Championship this term.

According to Football Insider, the Gunners have been impressed by the progress of the former England under-21 international and they plan to send scouts to watch him in action against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday.

It is added that the north London giants’ desire to land a new centre-back could see them make the move for Worrall when the transfer window reopens in January.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has regularly depended on Sokratis and David Luiz for the central defensive duties in the Premier League but the combination has failed to work out.

In the 13 top-flight games this season, the Gunners have conceded 19 goals and that stands as the joint-worst defensive record from the top half of the league standings..

Dani Ceballos news

Ceballos set for eventual move to England?

Arsenal’s on loan midfielder Dani Ceballos has informed his agent that he would like to have his long-term future secured by January at the latest. Ceballos is currently with the Gunners on a 12 month loan deal, but could be set to return to Real Madrid at the conclusion of his temporary spell.

Ceballos has caught the eye since his arrival at the Emirates, with manager Unai Emery regularly playing the midfielder at the heart of his team. Arsenal made Ceballos one of their key acquisitions of last summer.

However, it is understood Ceballos is not keen on a long-term move to England and wants to prove himself at parent club Real Madrid.

Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane had previously indicated that Ceballos could have a future at the Bernabeu, but is not yet ready to play on a regular basis for the club.

Arsenal have no option to sign the player on a permanent deal and it is understood that Real are seeking close to 30 million euros if a deal were to be agreed to allow Ceballos to leave permanently.

Torreira to Napoli?

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has reportedly emerged as a target for Italian side Napoli ahead of the winter transfer window.

Torreira has struggled for regular gametime in the Premier League this term and he has managed just four starts with two of them resulting after the recent snub of Granit Xhaka.

According to Calciomercato, the Uruguay international is currently unsettled at the Capital outfit, considering he has yet to adapt to the style of living in England.

It is added that he is eager to make the return to the Serie A and Napoli could potentially compete with AC Milan for his services when the transfer window reopens.

The Gunners snubbed the chance to sell Torreira during the summer transfer window and they could follow the same trend at the turn of the year, particularly with Xhaka tipped to part ways with the club.

Xhaka has not featured for the north London giants since his altercation with the fans during a game against Crystal Palace and reports indicate that he may have already made his final appearance for the club.

Wenger: expected to one day return to football management

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he has received multiple offers from Premier League sides, but his love of the Gunners has prevented him so far making a move to another English club. Wenger has also revealed he hopes to one day return to football, but remains patient for the time being.

Wenger was replaced by Unai Emery in 2018 after a long search to find a successor for the Frenchman. The move came as a surprise for many, and Arsene Wenger admits that he misses the day to day toil of Premier League management.

“I’m an Arsenal man and after that I’m a professional. I can’t stop working,” said Wenger.

“I decided to move out of the Premier League because I am too linked with Arsenal. I had opportunities to work in England but I turned them down.

“I don’t want to tell you [which clubs] because there are people in charge and it would unfair to them.

“The hunger to play football, win games, I play charity games still. The hunger is completely there, I don’t think you lose the desire to win and that bitterness when you lose a football game.”
